Gokie is a commitment device platform that allows users to stake real money on personal goals. When you complete a goal, your stake is refunded in full. If you forfeit a goal by missing too many check-ins, your stake is distributed according to the rules below. By using Gokie, you agree to these terms in full.
A non-refundable platform fee of 5% is deducted from each stake at the time of payment. This fee covers payment processing, infrastructure, and platform maintenance. It is applied regardless of whether the goal is completed or forfeited, and is not returned under any circumstances.
If you forfeit a goal (by exceeding the allowed number of missed check-ins), your remaining stake (after the 5% platform fee) is distributed as follows: 10% goes to platform maintenance, and 90% goes to the charity or recipient you selected when creating your goal. Forfeited stakes are not refundable. Choosing "The Developer" as your forfeit recipient directs the 90% to the Gokie development team.
Gokie is a motivational tool based on the psychology of loss aversion. We do not guarantee that using the platform will result in you completing your goals. The platform provides structure, reminders, and accountability — but success depends entirely on your own effort and commitment. Gokie is not liable for any goals not achieved.
Gokie includes a community feed where users can share public check-ins, follow other users, and send reactions. There are no user-to-user money transfers on the platform. All stakes are held by Gokie and processed through Stripe. Users are responsible for ensuring their public posts comply with applicable laws and community standards. Gokie reserves the right to remove any content deemed abusive, harmful, or in violation of these terms.
All disputes regarding goal outcomes, forfeit decisions, or account actions must be submitted via email to support@gokie.com. Gokie will review each dispute and issue a final decision within 30 days. All decisions made by Gokie are final. We do not offer arbitration or external dispute resolution at this time.
Refunds are issued automatically upon goal completion. Once you mark a goal as complete and submit the required evidence, your stake (minus the 5% non-refundable platform fee) will be returned to your original payment method via Stripe. Refunds typically appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer. No manual refund requests are needed for completed goals.
You must be 18 years of age or older to use Gokie. By creating an account and staking money, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. If we determine that a user is under 18, the account will be suspended and any active stakes will be refunded.
Gokie reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts for abuse of the platform, including but not limited to: fraudulent activity, manipulation of goal completion evidence, harassment of other users, or repeated violation of these terms. In the event of suspension, active stakes will be reviewed and handled on a case-by-case basis.
Gokie may update these Terms of Service at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of material changes via email or in-app notification.
