Gokie is a commitment device platform that allows users to stake real money on personal goals. When you complete a goal, your stake is refunded minus a 5% transaction fee. If you forfeit a goal by missing too many check-ins, your stake is distributed according to the rules below. By using Gokie, you agree to these terms in full.
When you create a goal with a monetary stake, your card is charged the full stake amount immediately via Stripe. A 5% transaction fee applies to all stakes. This fee covers payment processing costs and platform maintenance.
Users may create up to 2 free goals (no stake) in their lifetime. Free goals have no financial consequence for missed check-ins. There is a maximum of 6 active goals at any time.
Each goal has a check-in frequency (1–7 times per week, biweekly, or monthly). You must check in according to your chosen frequency. Missing consecutive check-ins beyond your chosen threshold results in automatic forfeit of your stake. A maximum of one counted check-in per goal per calendar day is allowed. Additional check-ins are recorded as bonus logs but do not count toward your streak or Gokie growth.
Each goal may be adjusted once — you can change the title, description, check-in frequency, deadline, or missed check-in threshold. The stake amount cannot be changed. If you choose to abandon a goal, your stake is forfeited and cannot be recovered. Abandonment requires explicit confirmation.
For strict mode goals, you may assign an accountability partner who must verify each check-in. If the partner does not respond within 24 hours, the check-in is automatically rejected and counts as a miss. Partners must have a registered Gokie account.
Gokie is a motivational tool based on the psychology of loss aversion. We do not guarantee that using the platform will result in you completing your goals. Success depends entirely on your own effort. Gokie is not liable for any goals not achieved.
Gokie includes a community feed where users can share public check-ins and follow other users. There are no user-to-user money transfers. Goals are private by default — sharing to the community is opt-in. Gokie reserves the right to remove content that is abusive, harmful, or in violation of these terms.
Refunds are issued automatically upon goal completion. Your stake minus the 5% transaction fee is returned to your original payment method via Stripe. Refunds typically appear within 5–10 business days. Forfeited and abandoned stakes are not refundable under any circumstances.
You must be 18 years of age or older to use Gokie. By creating an account and staking money, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.
Gokie reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts for abuse, including fraudulent activity, manipulation of evidence, harassment, or repeated violation of these terms. Active stakes will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
All disputes must be submitted via email to support@gokie.org. Gokie will review and issue a final decision within 30 days. All decisions are final.
Gokie may update these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance. We will notify users of material changes via email or in-app notification.
